The reality you perceive mirrors your inner realm; the self you identify with mirrors the world you live in. By highlighting the blurry line between the two, we bring this special edition of BMT and encourage you to become a better observer of the world as well as a better listener of your heart.

The creation of MERCURY is inspired by our fascination with mercury mirrors, one of the earliest types of fine mirrors produced in the history of glassmaking. The technique was developed in Europe during the Renaissance, with Venice and Italy being major centers of production.

Mercury mirrors provided smooth, reflective, and less distorted surfaces superior to any other methods available at the time. Largely a historical curiosity now, genuine antique mercury mirrors are still highly sought after by collectors and interior designers.

Each card is designed as an image seen through a broken piece of mercury mirror, ergo its vintage expression. This also explains the interplay of lines and geometric patterns that segments the canvas into a mosaic. A special printing process is used for the first time to convey the author's message about connecting your innermost self with the external world, which are like two sides of a mirror.

The box is made from high-crystallinity acrylic, gradient-colored in purple, and decorated with the shapes of the sun, the moon, and twinkling stars. Looking at it is as if looking at the night sky through the glass window of a medieval European church...

MERCURY Limited is the first BMT deck that utilizes lenticular printing to produce images with an illusion of 3D depth and the ability to change. As you shift your viewing angle by flipping or tilting the card, the front image will morph into different colors, obtaining an eye-catching and interactive effect.

A pearlescent film is then added on top, which gives off a subtle shimmer that makes the design look more upscale. This extra layer also ensures that the card surface remains smooth, vibrant, and finely detailed over time.

The color change is symbolic of the transition from dream to reality. One version uses colors like galactic silver and oceanic blue, which allude to the universe's vastness. The other version uses warm earthy hues in representation of the mundane life.

The limited card back design continues to take inspiration from the bold color statement and intricate pattern design characteristic of European stained glass paintings. While being open to interpretation, it is intended metaphoric of the source of all lights or the door to paradise.

Reverse UV printing is applied. This advanced process can make the same print with both mirror/high-gloss effect and matte/non-high-gloss effect. Compared to traditional varnishing methods, it ensures stronger contrast in brightness, better gloss, and more accurate graphics.

In addition to beautifying the image, reverse UV could also enhance the heat and moisture resistance of the ink, ensuring longer use.
