The practice of using only thirty-two cards in fortune telling is very common. This method known as the “French Method” or “Foreign Method” which consist of the face cards (Knave through King), the Ace and numbered cards of only 7 through 10. And it is up to you whether you use the Joker in your readings.

We printed and added to this deck 4 additional numbered cards (cards 6) if you would like to use the 36 cards deck. You will receive them together with this deck.

Dance of death, also called danse macabre, medieval allegorical concept of the all-conquering and equalizing power of death, expressed in the drama, poetry, music, and visual arts of western Europe mainly in the late Middle Ages. Strictly speaking, it is a literary or pictorial representation of a procession or dance of both living and dead figures. The concept probably gained momentum in the late Middle Ages as a result of the obsession with death inspired by an epidemic of the Black Death in the mid-14th century and the devastation of the Hundred Years’ War (1337–1453) between France and England. The dance of death frequently appears in friezes decorating the cloisters of monasteries (the open courtyards of which usually contained cemeteries) and the naves of churches.
One of most famous was the painting on the cemetery mural of the Dominican convent in Basel. The original of 1440 showed 37 couples depicting death that adressed the mortals. The frescoes were not only restored several times but even changed. In 1805 the wall was pulled down and only 19 fragments were saved. Some of the wall fragments are preserved in the history museum in Basel.
Hieronymus Hess (1799-1850) was an artist from Basel. In 1839 Hess was commissioned to copy the watercolours that Emanuel Büchel (1705-1775) had made of the dance of death in Basel.
Here we refer to traditional meanings of the cards, they combinations and to traditional spreads.

All card decks have the Certificate numbered and signed by the authors.
