The Orphic Tarot deck revolves around the theme of life-death-rebirth, with its recurrent references to the myth of Orpheus, his symbolic descent to the Underworld, and his return to the land of the living. It is particularly indicated for shadow-working, self-healing and medium channeling. It has a powerful, solemn and firm energy, akin to "the eye of the Typhoon" kind of electric quietness.

Every card of this deck features a deity, a nymph, a titan/titaness or a demi-god who are evoked in the Orphic Hymns, with a view to matching their energies with those of the Tarot cards and creating strong correspondences. For instance, The Empress is embodied by Gaia, (mother Earth), whereas The Emperor is represented by her mythological counterpart, Ouranos (father Sky).

My objective in doing so, is to honor both the ancient wisdom of the Orphic mysteries and the esoteric knowledge of Tarot.

The Orphic Tarot is a hybrid Tarot Deck, in that its imagery for the Major Arcana is mostly based upon the Marseille Tarot, whereas that of the four suits' is closer to the Rider-Waite's. Nonetheless, very much like the Marseille Tarot, this deck relies on numerology to connect the first ten Major Arcana with the first ten cards of every suit, offering a further layer of interpretation to the consultant.

Being an 80 cards deck, this Tarot features two extra cards, named "Alpha" and "Omega" . They stand, respectively, for "the Magician" and "The World" and embody"Physis "(that is Nature)" and Thanatos" (or Death). The reason behind this choice was my will to pay a tribute to the Orphic Hymns structure, and make this deck come full circle, with the beginning of life on the one hand and its ending, on the other.
