It has been developed by Fr. Abbe Mermet, and given its name in memory of the founder.
The witness chamber can be used to place a sample of a substance in order to:

send energy,
determine compatibility with supplements,
check sensitivity to food, etc.
Mermet is used often and successfully by therapists to balance vibrations of different elements, supplements, etc.
